Undying truth

(for Mthokozisi Ntumba - Man of the People)

now you are no longer in our midst
we will name a street after you
we will plant a tree
at the gateway to the forest
that gave us the seed
of the courage of your love

the dawn chorus will not be the same now that you are gone for the light of morning that guided the birds into their harmonies came from the gift of your breath to us all

so when we march it will not be to the grave but to the granary where your eternal wisdom is stored from the untimely harvest of your youth

and we will feast on the food winnowed from the fearless of the truth of your witness
